20th c. Royal Limoges Large Blue Jardiniere, Classic Women Scene
#AD119: Royal Limoges Classic Women Jardiniere, Cachepot or Planter
A heavy, large and clearly marked ovoid shaped continental European porcelain cachepot or jardiniere. It is a deep rich cobalt or mazarine blue, with heavy gilding or gilt and turquoise embellishments. This French piece also has striking images of three women on a balcony. It is richly and heavily gilded with gold enamel and gold embossed decorations in excellent condition. The mark on the bottom in gold letters has "Royal Limoges" in a rectangular outlined gold frame.
A striking image of women together on a porch is the centerpiece, as seen in photos. Click images to see condition in close up views. Condition is clean and bright. It is an impressive piece in the Art Nouveau style, of which we know very little, including the age it was made. There are no chips, cracks or repairs and it is in beautiful condition. We feel it is from the early to mid 20th century, although that is a guess. It was found in Totnes, Devon, England and is a quite stunning piece of pottery.
Size: 10 inches diameter by 8 inches height, the top rim is 1.5 inches
