A wonderful old collectible clearly stamped "Boosey & Co." original sheet music late Victorian / Edwardian era clamp for marching band clarinet in great condition. It is spring loaded, and tight.
Info: John Boosey started the Boosey Music Company in London in 1760, a classical music lending library which branched into selling brass and wind instruments in the Victorian era. They expanded to New York City in 1892, which is still in business as Boosey & Hawkes, Inc. Their main large competitor was Hawkes & Son, founded in 1865 in London by William Henry Hawkes. These two British entities merged in 1930, and hold publishing copyrights to much major old and 20th-century music, including a large number of classical and contemporary music.
This is a simple but classic old musical lyre design from the 1890's to 1910 era, pre Boosey & Hawkes ownership. It was recently found in Totnes, Devon, England. Nice old patina and vibes!
