  • £0.00

These 2 small 1890's Victorian era gilded font and edge religious books are printed by Eyre and Spottiswoode, printers to the Queen, on Fleet Street in London and William Clowes in Charing Cross. The old dip pen handwritten inscription inside dates them to 1891 and reads "G.N.A. 1891 to F.N.F.A." The books themselves are in good condition, the small case they fit into has split wear to case edge, see photos. Click images to see overall condition in very close up and movable views.

The brown twisted rope has two wooden beads and could be to as connection to a Victorian chatelaine. The first book is called "Common Prayer" and the second is called "Hymns Ancient and Modern." They were sold by S.B. Spaull bookseller, at the mall in Ealing, West London about 7 miles from Charing Cross and have his beautiful small bookseller label in each front. This beautiful set was found in Totnes, Devon, England.
