1860's Dutch Flemish Woman CDV Photo in Traditional Holland Costume
CDV Young Flemish Dutch Holland Woman Photo
1860's Vintage Clothing, Peasant Rural
A wonderful and graphic antique Victorian era 1860's fashion CDV photo of a young traditionally dressed Dutch woman, in rich sepia tones. There is no handwriting on the image. Click image to see her and her clothing close up.
She wears a Dutch bonnet as traditional head ware, with a wool chequered blanket or shawl around her shoulders. She holds 2 large flat baskets of food with large handles, both with linen coverings over her goods. She wears a white apron, and holds a folded floppy straw hat with a long vintage fabric ribbon. A stunning image. Our guess is that she is about 15-20 years old.
This is a rare old CDV image found in Exeter, Devon, England. Was she an immigrant to England? The toning is beautiful as well as the composition. This vintage CDV will be sent in a new rigid CDV sleeve.
