English Child's Lustre Ware Miniature English Coffee Can

Tiny and beautiful, this is a small Victorian era 19th c. children's ware copper and blue banded lustreware small child's or infant mug. (Note: the US spelling is as Lustreware) The beautiful old glaze on these luster pieces was meant to give the effect of brilliancy, iridescence and wealth. The lustre glaze is known to have been in use back to the 1200's.

Inside this little piece it is a creamy white, with light glazing on the cup bottom, as in translucent to a certain degree. It has a wonderful inner pink lustre rim. The combo of pink and copper luster is a thing of beauty to us.

This piece was found in Kingsbridge, Devon, SW England. A beautiful miniature coffee can that, as seen in photos, is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. There are no chips, cracks or repairs and the piece is in beautiful condition.
