c 1800 Georgian era English Carved Treen Figural Wooden Shoe Snuff Box
c. 1800 Georgian era wooden Treen Figural Shoe Snuff Box
This is an antique figural treen snuffbox in the shape of an early handmade leather shoe. It has wonderfully carved shoe laces or strings and 7 pairs of carved eyelets with a tiny little white paint embellishment in each.
It has an early metal/brass hinge, shows hand carving inside, and the condition is wonderful, see pics. The lid lifts up, with a small indented area near shoe front for you to insert your nail and open. It is a very tactile smooth piece in your hands.
We have photographed this piece with our thimble (not included in sale) to show its relative size. We recently found it in Devon and were very happy to see it in this condition!
Size: 4.25 inches long by 2 inches tall
